BTS Dominates The World Songs Chart With Old Tracks That Return Thanks To Renewed Fan Attention - Forbes
After BTS was shut out at the People’s Choice Awards recently (the group lost all three categories they were nominated in to fellow K-pop superstars Blackpink), fans have been consuming their favorite tracks from the group non-stop in an effort to return the tunes to various charts. The campaign worked, as several cuts are back on the tally most familiar to the band, and they own more real estate than any other name this time around.
There are currently six BTS songs present on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, which is a domination not seen for months.
Leading the way, as was the case last week, is “Make It Right,” which was recently rereleased with American pop singer Lauv. The new version has become a big hit in many regards, and it continues to perform well on the genre-specific list.
Former chart-topper “Spring Day” is back once again at No. 18. The track has now spent 56 frames on the tally, making it part of a relatively small group of K-pop songs that have lived on the chart for over a year. Fellow longstanding giant “MIC Drop,” which features rapper Desiigner, is also back at No. 20. That title has been present on the list for an incredible 108 turns.
The band’s final three placements all come from their most recent No. 1 album Map of the Soul: Persona, which took over a number of Billboard charts earlier this year. “Dionysus” is back at No. 23 (for its eighth week), “Intro: Persona” bounces back to No. 24 and “Jamais Vu” vaults to No. 25, and both those tracks have now found space on the World Digital Song Sales ranking for three frames.
As if six spaces at once wasn’t enough, BTS member J-Hope still has his solo single “Chicken Noodle Soup” with Becky G on the chart as well, giving him seven simultaneous placements. This time around, it climbs from No. 17 to No. 8.
None of the songs that return make it back to their peak positions, but the fact that some of these singles and album cuts are still charting at all is a testament to their popularity and how powerful BTS’s fans, known collectively as ARMY, can be when they focus their attention.
Here are where all of BTS’s tracks rank on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week.
